Crossing to the Other Side

August 31, 2006

You know those recurring anxiety dreams where you show up to class and there’s a test and you didn’t study? This morning I had one where I was supposed to teach a class at university, and the first class started in a few hours, and I didn’t know the topic, didn’t have a syllabus, hadn’t read the textbook, and, most worrisome of all, didn’t know what homework to assign.

I’ve recently become a father at home, a manager at work, and an employer of the nanny for our son. It makes sense that my anxiety dreams also cross over to the other side of that relationship.
